A Time to Stitch Peyote/Herringbone Blog Hop

Well, I didn't quite finish in time, but I decided to post this anyway, and I will update the blog as soon as I finish it completely.  It was so fun to make, but the truth is, I had a spectacular failure before I made this one.  I tried a circular peyote rope that I was going to combine with a herringbone rope, and suspend a focal from the whole thing.  Well, the rope didn't look the way I had imagined, but I was prepared to go with it.  However, when I suspended the focal (it was a lampwork donut with a triangular peyote and herringbone bail) it came out wonky.  No matter how much I worked the thing, it stayed wonky.  So, I threw it in a box with all the other rejects, and started this little paisley fun bracelet in neon colors including tangerine tango!  I thought I could get it finished, but I am just flat out of time.  So here it is, and I'll post again when I get it finished.  I have three cute clasps I plan to use on it.  They are little kitty toggles with fishy crossbars, and kitty face dangles.   I don't mean to be disappointing.

This is my second blog hop in as many weeks where I either didn't finish, or couldn't get it together at all.  It is not like me.  I am a responsible beader, and hate to let down my fellows.  I guess I could blame it on my scratched cornea that hasn't healed in two months and hurts and makes beading slow going, but I'm not one to make excuses.  I'm just a pokey old lady, and I have to stop making pieces I don't like so I can get them done in one design shot.  This weird streak will pass, but my frustration is starting to show.  Sorry, everyone.

So sorry to hear about your eye! that's one that would throw off your beading for awhile! But your work doesn't show any sign of trouble - it is gorgeous!

Totally amazed at this piece, I love peyote patterns, but I'm terribly slow at them. And you worked on another piece as well, so your eye issue certainly hasn't affected your speed! I'll look forward to coming back and seeing how you finished it. :)

Shannon~this piece is amazingly beautiful with its paisley, herringbone, peyote and vibrant colors! And with a bad eye to boot...I cannot picture it any more beautiful than it already is, though the clasps sound adorable.
No apologies necessary here! You created a thing of beauty from which there was only loose beads.
Thank you so much for joining the hop :-)

Lots of beautiful and colorful details in this bracelet. I had to laugh at your reject drawer - I have one of those, too. Sometimes, when I return to those banished pieces with a fresh look, they become some of my favorite creations!

My goodness I don't think any apology is necessary - your bracelet is beautiful and looks like it would have had me throwing it in a drawer....! You did well!

I am there with you...I sat for a whole day and finally admitted defeat and tore the thing apart!! I can't wait to see your finished piece with all the fun clasps! I love it so far...

You definitely didn't disappoint. More times than not, my ideas don't translate well into the beaded world, so I understand your frustration. The bracelet, though, is gorgeous. The colors are so fun and cheerful and I love the beads between the herringbone.

Shannon, I don't think you need to apologize! Your "prelim" looks pretty darn amazing. The funky colors and elaborate pattern are gorgeous. I have to admit that I laughed a little when i read "I'm a responsible beader", it felt like a group therapy moment... Hello, my name is.... I've fallen off the responsible beading wagon! :)
I hope that your cornea is on the mend, and that you feel better soon.

The "prelim" is terrific! Love the colors, love the design - I know the final product will be a showstopper. And hey, life happens and necklaces go wonky at the worst possible moments. You came up with a winner of a solution!

Hey Shannon, you are definitely not alone in having to post a work in progress. Just means we'll have to check back and see how it turns out later. :)

And you've made a great start! I'm not nearly so far along with mine! Glad you posted!

What an intricate piece - no wonder you are still working on it. I am glad you shared what you have and think the colors are lovely. I also liked the "responsible beader" reference. I think we all have enough stress in our lives, beading shouldn't add to it, eh?

Shannon, the bracelet is adorable, and it's going to be so cute with the kitty clasps.

I understand how physical problems can slow beading down, and I don't think you're making excuses. My old shoulder injury flared up this month, and it's made me much slower -- with beading and everything else! It's hard not to feel guilty, but bodies will do what bodies will do. *Hugs.*

Your colors are so pretty. If it wasn't for the challenges, I probably wouldn't bead that much at all.
